Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics applies to the Board of Directors, officers, and employees of International Marine Experts (IME), Hornclass, Bierman Pautt, and Bright North. It also extends to Hornclass promoting agents, surveyors or service suppliers, and freelance surveyors/inspectors working on behalf of these companies. The goal of this code is to ensure conduct characterized by honesty, integrity, impartiality, and professionalism in all activities.

1. Established in 2004, Hornclass is dedicated to safeguarding life, property, and the environment by setting and verifying standards for marine facility design, construction, and maintenance.

2. Our core values—honesty, efficiency, integrity, credibility, professionalism, and a high sense of responsibility—ensure that we meet our clients’ and stakeholders’ expectations. We are devoted to complying with all statutory and regulatory requirements and enhancing the effectiveness of our quality management system.

3. We believe that safety and pollution prevention at sea are best achieved by strictly following international conventions, codes, and resolutions, while recognizing that safety and productivity can go hand in hand.

4. Hornclass is committed to protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all information assets, both physical and electronic, throughout the organization.

5. To maintain high standards in quality, biosecurity, cybersecurity, safety, and pollution prevention, Hornclass hires qualified personnel as per IMO guidelines and the Code for Recognized Organizations, continuously providing necessary training and resources.

6. We strive to identify and mitigate any potential cyber incidents that could disrupt or significantly impact business operations.

7. Our Quality Management System, based on International Standards ISO 27001 and ISO 9001, aligns with the RO Code and the relevant IMO instruments governing Recognized Organizations.

b) Ensuring that quality policies and objectives, including those for class and statutory certification and other services, are well understood by all personnel, and adopting a principle of continuous improvement. This includes protecting all information assets under Hornclass control, whether internal or external, deliberate, or accidental.

c) Providing the necessary resources, including a suitable work environment, to ensure the productive and effective functioning of all company departments.

d) Reviewing and improving risk management procedures to enhance the effectiveness of the quality system, thereby increasing customer and stakeholder satisfaction by meeting their needs and expectations, and complying with all applicable requirements.

e) Conducting regular management reviews, internal and external audits to improve the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS).

f) Regularly reviewing the Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, and QMS to ensure their continued suitability.

g) Identifying and managing the various activities required to transform inputs into valuable outputs, thus establishing effective risk management.

h) Investing in continuous awareness and training for personnel to enhance quality in every activity.

i) Promoting a culture of inspiration among employees, surveyors, and agents through commitment and cooperation in quality initiatives.

j) Ensuring all Hornclass staff are fully aware of and adhere to guidelines to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, and implementing necessary contingency measures to maintain service continuity if infections occur.

k) Recognizing and rewarding teamwork and individual efforts that lead to improvement.

l) Systematically developing and updating the Organization’s Rules and Regulations and its QMS.

m) Committing to implementing the quality, biosecurity, cybersecurity, safety, and pollution prevention policies throughout the Company and adhering to all their provisions.

n) Delegating the Quality Assurance Department to ensure this commitment is respected throughout the organization.
